Why fit in?

Hello Pink and Main friends. It’s Donna here. I hope you are healthy, and are finding ways to relax at home. I’ve been making some cards that take a little while longer to colour while we wait things out at home in Tokyo, and I have one to share with you today.

I adore meerkats. They are truly my favourite animal. One of the zoos in Melbourne, Australia has a meerkat enclosure backing onto the cafe, and I could stay there all day! This crazy bunch of meerkats from the new release capture the quirkiness that I love so much perfectly!

To make this card, I stamped the image and sentiment in Copic friendly ink, and got colouring. It’s as simple as that. I used Copics, and kept my colour palette to a minimum, using four different colour combinations of pale browns and greys and repeating them for all the meerkats except one. Even the accessories were kept minimal by using a ‘dirty’ yellow that wouldn’t stand out too much.

I then chose a much darker shade of brown and mixed it with purples for my middle meerkat, to make sure he stood out! Even his cheeks are bright!

The card was put together simply by trimming the panel to 4 1/8 by 5 3/8 so that just a slither of my background burgundy card was showing.

So that’s my card for today. No smoke and mirrors, just some relaxing colouring, and a winner image.

Until next time, may you have plenty of reasons to smile, and and plenty of chance to stand out.

Blessings,

Donna
