Spotlight Die-Cutting

Hello, friends and welcome back! Laurie here with you this morning to share a card featuring the spotlight die-cutting technique. Sounds super fancy, which is actually is but it’s also very easy!

For my focal image, I used one of my favourite P&M stamp sets, Aloha Pineapple along with its co-ordinating dies.

I started by heat embossing the large “hugs” sentiment from the Hugs Needed Stamp Set onto a white A2 panel as well as an A2, top fold card base. Tip: Use a stamp positioning tool. It will make your life easier! After, the “hugs” was embossed, I took the large, solid pineapple bottom and placed it onto the card front, over the sentiment. Using a variety of inks and sponge daubers, I inked up both parts of the pineapple.

Use the co-ordinating dies to cut out the pineapple. Add foam adhesive, craft foam or multiple pineapple die cuts to add dimension. All that’s left to do is adhere the pineapple, lining it up with the stamped “hugs’ on the card base!

The tiny sentiment comes from the new Just Because Stamp Set and Sentiment Strip Dies. I added a handrawn border around the edges along with some glitter pen to the pineapple and hearts!

I love the effect this technique gives and your recipient will wonder how you made this!

Please check out the You Tube video as I go into a bit more detail 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!
