So Stinkin’ Sweet

Hello, Crafty Friends! Samantha from @sammakescards here on the Pink and Main blog sharing a new card featuring the very adorable Stinkin’ Sweet stamp set. For this card I wanted to do two things, I wanted to feature Valentine’s Day as my theme and I wanted to try using Foilables for the very first time. I couldn’t be happier with the results.

To start, I selected a striped sheet from the Two Hearts Foilable Kit along with the Sparkle Red Cheer Foil. I cut the foil to a size matching my striped sheet, placed both in my laminator carrying sheet with the shiny foil facing up, ran the carrier sheet through my Mini Minc Foiling Machine, peeled off the foil, and had perfect results. It was so effortless and amazing I decided to also foil a matching sentiment from the Two Hearts kit to use on my card. Just look at the shine.

Next, I stamped two of the skunk images from the stamp set along with the accompanying flowers onto Copic friendly cardstock, and colored them with Copic markers before die cutting them with the Stinkin’ Sweet Dies. Now, it was assembly time.

To create a little visual interest, I decided to cut my striped foiled paper into a 2″ strip with a 1/8″ white mat on either side. I then adhered my strip vertically and slightly offset onto a red card panel as shown in the image above, before cutting the whole panel with the largest of the Stitched Rounded Rectangle Dies. Next, I went to die cut my sentiment, also using one of the Stitched Rounded Rectangle Dies, but I didn’t have the exact the right size i was looking. To solve for this, I “hacked” my die by doing a second partial die cut to make it a little shorter but still the same length. It came out just the way I was hoping it would.

Once my card panel and sentiment were done, I arranged my Skunks and flowers, popped them up with foam tape, and now I have a cute Valentine’s Day card to share with a friend.
