Take It Easy Friend

Hi friends, it’s Caitlin and I am so excited to be back with you for another year. This week I got to work creating with the Stamp and Die of the Month (Chicken Soup) to make some fun Get Well cards. I shared one on my Live last night and you can watch the replay here if you want even more inspiration. This was the first one I created though and it has an extra special place in my heart because it could be a “Get Well” card but it could also be for someone who has been having a rough time with mental health. I personally have struggled with anxiety for many years and postpartum depression is what lead me to card making so I would love the idea of being able to send a paper hug and support to someone and pay it forward.

I started out by picking my background paper so that I could make sure my elements were colored to match. I decided on the Fun Pastels 6×6 Paper Pad because it’s fun and cheerful without being overpowering. I really liked one of the color blended pages so I trimmed that down to fit an A2 sized card base and attached it with EZ Squeeze Glue. I wanted to incorporate a foiled element and I thought the mugs print from the Mugs Foilables Panels set would fit well with the stamp set, like some hot tea. I foiled the panel with some Fairy Wings Pink Cheerfoil and my Mini Minc Foiling Machine. I trimmed down the panel to 3.5 in x 4.75 in so that you could still see a good bit of the pattern paper around it and added it to the card as well. Next I cut a large scrap of Ice Rink Cardstock with one of the new Doodled Hearts Dies, keeping both the frame piece and the center piece. I added the frame with liquid glue and then popped up the center heart with foam tape in the center.

I stamped out the pill bottle and the tissue box images from the Chicken Soup Stamp Set with Asphalt Ink and colored them in with Copic Sketch Markers to match the paper I had picked. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and added them to the center heart section. The I realized that I still needed a sentiment… If I could do this over again, I would have stamped my sentiment before adding the foam tape to the heart but luckily I had added enough foam that I was able to get a good stamp impression. I stamped the sentiment with Night Sky Ink and I love how the purple brings the pattern paper and the colored images together. The last thing I decided to add was a little extra sparkle with the creamy yellow colored Gems from the Warm Jellies Gems and it makes me smile! I hope you are feeling inspired and I hope you have a great week!
