Savannah Learns To Color #18: Easy Background with Patterned Papers

Hello, Pink & Main friends and fans!

It’s Savannah O’Gwynn, and I’m back with a QUICK card idea and another colored image to share!!!

I am absolutely in LOOOOOOOOVE with these critter mugs from the P&M Spring Mugs set! I wish I had them all in real life— but I don’t drink coffee, so I hope it would be ok to put water or orange juice in there! LOL!

Today’s card features the little bunny mug with a fun background using the Pop Flowers 6×6 patterned papers. I love the diagonal paper but wanted to amp it up by making my own patterned papers with it. Here’s how to do it:

  • Cut one panel from the patterned paper that is cardbase size
  • Flip the diagonal patterned paper 90* (left)
  • Adhere both panels to cardbase and trim to size

It’s that easy! I love how the diagonal lines match but are mix matched colors! So fun! It adds just the right detail for this quick card:)

I’m back into coloring and enjoying the process a bit more now that I know I will use at least 15 markers on one image (just kidding- that’s probably an exaggeration! Ok… maybe it isn’t! LOL!). Either way, I love trying this new technique still— even with mistakes! *I don’t think I can color without a mistake! Isn’t that a requirement:) This little bunny was originally blue… but as you might remember from my coloring journey and previous posts that blues are harder for me to color. I wonder if I need to buy more blue markers so I have more of a variety to pick and match from?! That’s an idea I will keep you posted on the results of this theory! LOL!

Overall, I decided to go with a traditional gray spotted bunny for my image. The belly was a bit too dark and splotchy so I covered it up with some of my favorite Ice Rink glitter. PERFECT!

I hope my cards inspire you!! I hope that you will try making your own backgrounds from patterned papers for your next project:)

I’ve got MORE to share, so be sure to come back soon! Please remember to share what you create using these techniques, if you are learning to color with me, or if you use this P&M stamp/die set so I can leave you some love ❤️

THANKS so much for stopping by! Happy crafting!!!

Hugs ❤️ Savannah
