Hello Beautiful

Hello beautiful Pink and Main friends. How are you all going? Well, and calm, I hope. It’s Donna here, staying inside in Tokyo! I have a card to share with you today that uses one of the fabulous new stencils, and the Ergonomic Blending Brush. A little birdy told me they’re very close to being back in stock, if you have one on order!

I started by blending dye inks onto a piece of card over the Meemaw’s Roses stencil. You can see the washi tape that I’ve used to keep the stencil from moving. I used two different inks, because one was too bright, and one was too dull! Talk about fussy!

Once the inks were blended, I removed the stencil, and got out some watercolour pens. This technique could easily be done with regular watercolours, but I’ve been neglecting my brush markers lately, and they have a nice fine tip for getting into the corners of this image.

By putting a little colour into the corners, and blending it out with water, I was able to get a gradient of colour in both the petals and the leaves. I chose yellow for the original blending because I knew it would play nicely with both green and pink when I added the colour on top.

Next was the sentiment. I cut three of the word hello from the Wreath Base die, and stacked them up. The word beautiful came from the Hello Beautiful stamp set (which also has the most beautiful two layered butterflies – you can see them here!) and I stamped this in black and then heat embossed it in clear on a strip of vellum.

I cut the water coloured panel using my all time favourite Stitched Rectangles 2 dies. I then wrapped the vellum around the panel, and taped it at the back. Finally, I added the word hello, using it to secure the vellum strip at the front, and added the panel to a teal card base.

I hope you are inspired to break out your stencils and play with them. They really are so versatile. Until next time, may your days be beautiful, wherever you are.

Blessings,

Donna
