Birthday fireworks

Hello Pink and Main Friends. It’s Donna here from donnaisplayingpaper and I have a fun pair of cards to share with you! I wish you could see the shimmer on these cards in real life! I’ve used the new Water Gems from the April release. You can see the whole new release here! These fun watercolour powders are shimmery and fabulous. I was able to use a technique that gave me two cards from one!

I used the Celebrate Stencil along with the Water Gems to create the main panels. To do this, I taped the stencil to a piece of watercolour paper, I then sprinkled the TINIEST bit of the Water Gems in a few colours onto and around the holes in the fireworks part of the stencil. ( I use a toothpick – that’s how little you need!) I then gently sprayed the stencil with water. (Be careful, you don’t want to send wet powder flying across your desk!) This gave me one panel. I then carefully lifted the stencil with all its coloured paint on top, and turned it over onto another piece of watercolour paper to make the second panel.

I trimmed these down to size to make the cards. For the first of the cards, I used the Confetti Stencil to ink blend a yellow on yellow background. The big Happy Birthday on both cards comes from the Make a Wish Stamp set. I stamped in black for one, and heat embossed in white on black card for the other. I cut them both using the matching Make a Wish Dies.

For the second card, I trimmed the panel larger, so that it covered pretty much the whole card. I added some Warm Jellies for a little added sparkle.

I love the soft look that using the watercolour powders with the stencils gives, and I look forward to playing with this some more!

Until next time, have a super day!

Blessings

Donna
