Autumn Greetings

Hi Pink and Main friends. It’s Donna.

Small things make me happy, and one of them is the word autumn. I am NOT a hot weather girl, and the sound of the word autumn gives me such pleasure. I’m sure “fall” has the same effect on some of you, but being Australian, it will always be autumn to me!

To make today’s card, I first grabbed a handful of autumn coloured watercolour markers, and scribbled them onto a piece of watercolour paper to make a lovely golden hued piece.

I used the Trick or Treat stamps and dies for today’s project. The die has the central part filled in so instead of stamping first and cutting second, I reversed the process. I cut out 5 pumpkins in all, although I only used three. Then, using a small piece of scrap cardstock, I cut out another pumpkin in order to use the negative space around the pumpkin.

I put this border into my MISTI and aligned the stamp with the centre of the hole. I then put the pumpkin back in and did a test stamping to make sure it was lined up perfectly. Once I was happy, I put the pumpkins that I had cut from the coloured watercolour paper into the gap and stamped each of them with clear ink. I then sprinkled on white embossing powder and then embossed them all at the end.

You can see that the colour extends beyond the white ‘lines’, but I like this look. The sentiment comes from the Fall Sentiments stamp set. These sentiments are great for fall/autumn, Thanksgiving and Halloween. This combination of fonts has my heart aflutter. I can’t explain why, but I just love it.

Finally, some Kraft cardstock with a generous spattering of white gouache, and a strip of paper from the Sweater Weather paper pad finished off the card.

This card would be good to make in multiples, as once I’d set up the stamping arrangement in my MISTI, the stamping went along very quickly.

I hope your are inspired to start breaking out the autumn colours, and enjoy the cooler weather too.

Until next time,

Blessings,

Donna
