Always In My Heart

Hi Friends! This is Caitlin from CaitlinAnnaleeCards and I am sharing a sweet and simple card with you today. This card was inspired by my mom, who loves dragonflies and rose pink and is always on my mind. These are the kinds of cards that I love to have ready to go in my card-stash, something that can be used for so many people and so many occasions, happy or sad. You could also make a bunch of these at once and just switch up your color combinations and pattern paper.

I started out by stamping the dragonfly from the Floral Wings stamp set with an alcohol friendly ink and I colored it in with Copic markers. My mom’s favorite colors are rose pink and lavender so I let her inspire my whole card and I used those colors for the florals and some BV and B markers for the wings, trying to get an iridescent look. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut it out and I sorted through my pattern papers to find some colors that would work well. I decided that the pink and light blue papers from the Year Round Dots and Stripes Paper Pack would be perfect so I trimmed down the pink to be a standard US A2 (4.25 in x 5.5 in). I decided that I wanted a white panel behind the dragon fly to help it stand out so I used the Garden Gate Embossing Folder to emboss a 3.75 in x 5 in panel of white card stock. I glued that white panel into the corner of the blue pattern paper and trimmed it down so that there was a thin blue mat all the way around, then I adhered the whole thing to the pink panel.

I decided to stamp my sentiment onto a scrap of white card stock and I trimmed it down to be a small rectangle and then used two of the BV markers I had used on my flowers to edge the card stock. I ran the side of the darker marker against the edge of the paper and then I used the brush tip of the lighter marker to draw a thin line on the front of the card stock, blending out that dark edge just a little bit. I glued my dragon fly down to the card flat and added foam tape to the back of the sentiment to add some dimension. As usual, my last step was to add some shine and so I added 5 of the pink enamel dots from the new Pandamonium Enamel Dots set scattered in a diagonal line across the card.

I really love how this card turned out and I can’t wait to send it to my mom. I hope you are feeling inspired to create something for a loved one who could use an extra smile.
