Sneak Peek – Whimsical Butterflies

Hi everyone! Samantha here back on the Pink and Main blog and I am so excited to share a sneak peek from the beautiful April release coming out this Friday. One of my favorite new stamp sets with the April release is the Wings of Whimsy. This stamp set features several gorgeous butterfly images all with unique wing patterns.

So start my card, I took a A2 white card panel and I masked off the left and right sides of the page, leaving a 2 inch band to the left of center. Next I ink blended four shades of purple dye ink to create an ombre pattern starting with the darkest color on the bottom and moving upwards to the lightest shade. Next, I wanted to create a subtle pattern in the background so I grabbed another new stamp set, Adore You Florals, and stamped the floral image using white pigment ink. Using a little water mixed with my dark purple ink and a paint brush I added a little spatter to my image before removing my masks.

Now it was time to stamp out my butterflies. Using my Misti stamping platform, I arranged my butterflies in various directions along the purple ombre strip along with a sentiment from the stamp set. I stamped the images with the darkest purple ink in my stash. To further make the butterflies pop, I re-stamped the images using Versamark ink and applied an iridescent embossing powder that I then set with my heat tool.

To finish everything off and add a little dimension, I selected a third product from the new release, the Butterfly Pop-up Die. I chose a light lavender cardstock from my stash to use with the die, but instead of using the main die cut (…You will have to wait for that reveal…) I chose some of small butterfly negative die cuts to glue onto my card. I added a little Zig Wink of Stella shimmer pen to step up the die-cuts and add some shine. To finish everything off, I trimmed down my panel and added a matching lavender mat before adhering to an A2-sized card-base.

I am so happy with the shimmery butterflies. I hope you like them too.
