Shaped cards- arches are perfect!

Hi Pink and Main friends. It’s Donna here, just finished with the first summer typhoon here in Tokyo. We were absolutely safe, but a beautiful willow tree in the river nearby has been swept over by the rush of water. Now the sun is shining, and we’re off to see some water irises on this fine Sunday. But, onto the card! I have a shaped card for you today.

When I first saw the Wide Stitched Arches Dies, I was intrigued, but I had no idea how central they would become to my cardmaking. I have used these dies for so many different card backgrounds, shaker windows and more. Today, I’m using the largest of the dies as the card shape. I started with a floral panel from the Wildflowers Foilables and I foiled this with rainbow Foil from Pink and Main, called ROYGBIV. I then used coloured pencils to lightly shade the flowers and leaves. Not all the photos picked up on the colouring, as the foiling seemed to steal all the limelight!

To construct the card I cut the Wildflower panel and also a piece of white cardstock using the arches dies. I then scored a horizontal line on the plain white card about 1/4″ from the top of the plain panel, and put some thin double sided tape above this line. I then stuck the foiled panel to the background. The scored line on the back helps the card to open out to stand up straight. The final touches were a sentiment stamped and heat embossed in white, and then cut using the Sentiment Strip dies, another of the most used dies in my collection and some Hooray Glitter Enamel Dots.

I hope you’re having a super day, and that the weather wherever you are is sending you lots of wildflowers.

Until next time, may your days be full of love

Blessings

Donna
