Season’s Greetings – Creating your own Patterned Paper

Hello Crafty friends! Welcome to a sneak peek at the upcoming Pink and Main release.

It’s Donna here, and my Christmas preparations are in full swing here in Japan. It seems early to be thinking about Christmas, but with cards especially, I need to allow time to make them, write them, post them and then have them make the journey from Japan around the world.

I have a card for you today that uses the stamps from the soon to be released Holiday Wreaths set to create my own patterned paper.

I have used two colours on each of the stamps to create some extra interest. The I stamped the leaves in the lighter green first, then inked them up in the darker green, and used a micro fibre cloth to dab away some of the colour so that it would only partially stamp. I repeated the process with two reds for the berries and the poinsettia flowers.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set. You will see when the whole set is available that it is exactly the right size. For today I have stamped it onto the smallest of the Stitched Top Note Dies. I then traced around the edge of the die on some blue paper and cut this out by hand to mat the sentiment. I’ve cut the patterned piece into a wide strip and backed this with the same blue paper, blending in some Distress Oxide at the edges to soften them.

I popped the sentiment up with foam tape and that completed the card. I love making my own papers, and I love championing the smaller stamps in stamp sets, so this was a match made in heaven for me.

I’m excited for the new release. I just know it’s going to be very popular, as there are some really wonderful products coming. Not long now!!!

Until next time,

Blessings,

Donna
