Hello, Pink & Main friends and fans!
I’m back— with another quick card and post (*gasp* Yes!! I said QUICK!!!)!!
I’m so happy to share another colored creation for my fun, new series, Savannah Learns to Color! Again— I don’t think this is the BEST coloring ever; however, I cannot tell you how pleased I am with the results!!! I never knew how fun coloring could be!
Let’s unpack this card’s design, and I’ll share a few things that I’ve learned along the way…
After seeing several of the P&M design team members color RIGHT on their project… I thought that maybe I should try that same technique! Well… let’s just say I learned a lot from that technique!!!
- Masking images— when layering images to color, you should stamp the image to the FRONT first. Also, be sure to keep all masks on your images until you are finished with ink blending, stamping, stenciling, etc. LOL!
- Messing up the BACK images— be sure to keep your front stamp/image on your stamp block in the exact place because you might mess up the back image and have to restamp this image… and if that doesn’t work you will have to fussy cut, paper piece, or layer the new colored image! LOL! Yes- this happened to me with the spoon. I messed up the soup bowl and when I was paper piecing it onto my card base, I realized I didn’t leave a spot for the spoon. I fixed that problem by guessing where the spoon would be and cutting that out of the bowl. It actually worked without much configuring or cutting!! That made my day because I didn’t want to start over:)
- It’s OK— it’s ok to make mistakes, start over, or restamp an image only to paper piece it onto the finished project!!! You already know I messed up the soup bowl… but I also messed up the chicken (3x). It’s ok because my fussy cutting and paper piecing technique worked to cover up any flaw:)
Despite all the issues, I really really REALLLLLLLLLLLLY like this card!!! I love the soft green ink blending behind the image. I love the way the crackers look- somehow I was able to get a really good blend for coloring!! My favorite part about this card is that it is 90% one layer, which is out of my comfort zone. I enjoy adding more and more embellishments to all my cards, but for this one I held back a lot:)
I hope my card inspires you!! I also hope you are enjoying my coloring journey— I’ve got MORE to share, so be sure to come back soon! Please remember to share what you create using these techniques, if you are learning to color with me, or if you use this P&M stamp/die set so I can leave you some love ❤️
THANKS so much for stopping by! Happy crafting!!!
Hugs ❤️ Savannah
