Savannah Learns to Color #3 + BONUS Technique Idea

Hello, Pink & Main friends and fans!

Join me as I share another project for my new, fun series Savannah Learns to Color! I don’t think I’ve caught the coloring bug… but I really couldn’t help myself when creating this card! I *HAD* to color these sweet little owls!!

Coloring Lessons Learned: 1️⃣ It’s ok to try different coloring combos for animals or images. I am struggling to color images using yellow, orange, blue, and green… so after several attempts to color these owls with these colors, I switched it up and did gray and peach/pink. I love how it turned out! **NOTE: It’s almost National Marriage Week {Feb. 7-14}, and I usually give my husband a special card each day of this week. This card is for Trav so keep it a secret until then:)

2️⃣ I also learned that coloring ONE image might take 22 markers! LOL! I’m sure an experienced coloring artist wouldn’t use that many markers to color this image… but let me remind you— this is my THIRD colored image 🙃LOL!

I normally don’t make simple cards, but this is another simple card to create— inking the background, stitching a solid heart image to card base*, adding the colored image and sentiment. SUPER EASY to create!!

*BONUS: Technique Idea

I know what you’re thinking!!! How did you create that solid heart background image? It’s actually EASY— I took the P&M Doodled Heart die and transformed it into a solid image. Here’s how:

  • Draw connecting lines for the “inner” doodled heart
  • Cut along these lines, erase pencil marks; use this NEW heart to trace and cut a solid heart image (trace around the OUTSIDE of the heart image)

I like taking my supplies and stretching them to create other images! I hope that you will turn your Doodled Heart die into a solid heart image for your next project.

Please remember to share what you create so I can leave you some love ❤️

THANKS so much for stopping by! Happy crafting!!!

Hugs ❤️ Savannah
