Retro Beach House Vibes

Hi Friends! This is Caitlin from CaitlinAnnaleeCards and I am sharing this really fun, retro beach house inspired card with you today. I have distinct memories of a 90’s beach house that is 100% the inspiration for this card and I think its so fun to find new inspiration for color schemes and layouts. I started this card out with the new Seashells Emboss and Cut Folder and Inked Oasis 6×6 Paper Pack. I used one sheet of green/teal/peach paper inside the folder to emboss and cut out all 5 shells and I love the color combinations and variation that you get with this paper pack. I picked out my favorite 3 shells for this card and used some warm grey Copic markers to enhance the embossed texture, using the darkest color in the deepest impressions and 2 lighter markers to blend out the shading. I also added some white gel pen to enhance any high points and balance out the shadows.

I sorted through my Pink and Main paper stash and found this peachy pink pattern from the Bee Kind 6×6 Paper Pack which really reminded me of retro tiles as well as this teal tone on tone polka dot that matched the colors in the shells perfectly. I trimmed down the peach paper to be 5.5 in x 4.25 in and trimmed down the teal to be 5 in x 3.75 in. I really wanted to add in a darker color but felt like black would be too bold so I grabbed the Coffee Shop Cardstock and glued down the teal panel to it in the corner so that there was a very thin little mat on two sides and then I trimmed down the other two sides to match. I used some of the left over brown card stock to cut out the shadow layer of the Hello Sunshine Word Dies and I used some Pebble Cardstock to cut out the words. I was really worried about how I was going to get the words lined up but it went together so easily and I will definitely be using it more in the future. I added some white gel pen to the letters to help with better coordinate with the shells.

I used the Hello Sunshine Words to line up the three seashells across the top half of the card and glued them down directly to the teal paper. Then I popped up the word dies with foam tape. The last step was to add some shine and so I grabbed the Ahoy enamel dots from the Courtyard Kit and added 5 of the dots around the card, making sure that some were tucked under and some overlapped different levels. I really love how nostalgic and fun this card feels and hope that you are feeling inspired to try out something different from your normal style.
