Pixie Dust and Star Dust

Hi friends, this is Caitlin from Caitlin Annalee Cards and today I am sharing a really fun and sparkly card with you! I used the Glossy Gel with the new Watercolor Gems and Super Fine Glitter to create two beautiful glitter pastes for the background of my card and I am now addicted to this combination. I started this whole project with the background, making two piles of Glossy Gel on an acrylic palette and adding a little shake of Eggplant Watercolor Gem and Orchid Super Fine Glitter to one, and then Caribbean Watercolor Gem and Ocean Wave Super Fine Glitter to the other. I mixed each one with a Palette Knife and then applied an even layer of each over the Scattered Stars Stencil with Asphalt Card Stock underneath. I applied the paste in patches and then smoothed everything over to fill in the remaining space to get a more random feeling layout.

I set that background aside to dry and and got to work creating a feature image for the card. I decided that the Pixie Dust Stamp Set was perfect and I stamped out the fairy holding the star wand (to tie in with the background) and Copic colored her to match the purple and teal tones from the stars. I cut her out using the coordinating die and I stamped one of the sentiments from the set onto the remaining scrap of white card stock, with Night Sky Premium Dye Ink and cut that out with a paper trimmer to create a long strip.

Once the background panel was dry, I trimmed it down to be 5 in x 3.75 in and added it to an A2 sized panel of Night Sky Card Stock. Before I added the fairy to my card, I added some liquid glue to the wand tip and shook some of the Stardust Chunky Glitter onto it for some extra shine. To make the fairy and sentiment both lay nice and flat over the background, I popped them both up with foam tape. I am so in love with this card and if you want to see even more Watercolor gem pastes, please come hang out with me live Thursday at 8:30 pm eastern on Pink and Main’s Facebook Page or YouTube Channel.
