Penguin Mugs and Kisses

Hi friends, this is Caitlin and today I am so excited to share this sweet little winter themed card with you. I actually started out this whole card with scraps, which I know sounds kind of crazy but hear me out. I used the Snowflake Emboss and Cut folder to cut out snowflakes for my Pink and Main live and I had extra paper left over that was only large enough to cut two of the snowflakes out completely. So I was left with 4 half snowflakes that I didn’t have the heart to throw away. So I decided to build a whole card around them instead… as you do.

I really wanted to try some new colors for this card and go darker since all of my snowflake cards have been very soft and pastel lately. I grabbed the blue candy cane pattern paper from the Merry and Bright Paper Pad and trimmed it down to be 5.25 x 4 in for a very small matte on my side folding, A-2 card base. I attached that with liquid EZ Squeeze Glue  and then went to find the perfect stamped image. I am so in love with the Mugs and Kisses Stamp set so I stamped out the little winter penguin as well as the whipped cream and colored them in with my copic markers. I made the sprinkles and his little scarf a fun, bright blue that worked well with the blue candy cane colors in the paper.

I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and attached the whipped cream to the top of the cup with more liquid glue. I added the snowflakes around the edges of my blue panel using the flat sides that were already created for me where the paper ran out in the folder. I stamped out the sentiment with Barber Shop Ink onto a scrap of white card stock and trimmed it down with my paper trimmer. I popped up my colored images and the sentiment with foam tape for some extra dimension.

Then I realized the snowflakes were a little too plain and blank for how colorful the background was so I added a dark blue gem from the Cool Jellies Gems set and I love how it brings everything together. I also NEVER add my sentiment at an angle and with the layout of these snowflakes, this felt like the best time possible to try it out!  If you want to see what I did with the other snowflakes I cut out, you can watch the replay of my live here.
