Ombre Stenciled Heart with Buttercup

Hey everyone, it’s Michelle here! Pink and Main has recently released a whole collection of little garden creatures, all inspired by flowers. Today I’ll be working with the Buttercup image to create this card.

First off, to make the background, I took a simple stencil of a heart – I made my own with my Silhouette Cameo. (You can find the instructions here.)  I inked it up using various shades of pink and orange Distress Inks. I also drew in a dashed line outline with a black felt-tipped pen.

Then, I stamped my Buttercup image in waterproof black ink so that I could color it in with Distress Markers.

I took out a small strip of vellum and heat embossed the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Pretty Princess set in white embossing powder. This way, you can still see the beautiful ombre colors from the stenciled heart! IMG_5861-3

To finish it off, I mounted this entire front piece on a bright coral cardstock base that brings out the pink from the heart. I’m really loving bright cardstock bases recently!

Thanks for stopping by today! Make sure to stop by the shop to check out all the new stamps! 🙂
