Hi everyone! Samantha here on the Pink and Main Blog sharing a pair of clean and simple cards I made to showcase the new Rainy Day Stamp Set. The two little unicorns in this new set are so adorable, and I felt they would pair beautifully with the Colorful Ink Spots 6×6 Paper Pad from the March anniversary release.
To start, I first stamped my unicorn and water droplet images onto Copic X-Press it paper using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Next, I selected the two pattern papers I wanted to feature from the Colorful Ink Spots paper pad, as the colors in the paper would help determine the color palette I would use for my images. For my unicorn with umbrella image, I selected a multicolored paper in a rainbow pattern to coordinate with my chosen rainbow sentiment and colored my unicorn in pinks and yellows to match. Using a white gel pen, I also added a few polka dots to her dress just to add a little texture. Once she was complete, I used the Rainy Day Dies to cut her out and moved onto my final design.
For both cards, I started with a white card panel cut 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8.” Next, using my paper trimmer, I removed a diagonal section of paper about 1.25″ in size from each panel. As these were intended to be companion cards, one diagonal went from the top left to the bottom right, and the next went from the bottom left to the top right.
Once my white panels were ready, I cut out sections of pattern paper to fill the openings along with a coordinating color cardstock mat cut 4″ x 5.25.” I glued my pattern paper to my mat before adhering each section of white card panel. For the white sections, I used foam tape to create dimension between the white and the pattern paper before adding on my stamped images, also with foam tape.
To finish everything off, I glued the matted panel to a brushed-gold A2-sized panel and A2-sized white folding card-base, before stamping my sentiment in black. I also added a few confetti sequins to each card for a little added bling.
For the second card, all of the steps of the first card were repeated, though you will notice the paper selected for the second unicorn cutie is the color of water. The theme for the second card was singing and dancing in puddles. I made sure my unicorn was colored to match her paper and sentiment and I also added a few polka dots to her swim suit to keep the too card designs cohesive.
I just think these are the cutest pair. I hope you like them too!
Thank you.
