Happy Bird-day

Hello Pink and Main friends. It’s Donna here, from donnaisplayingpaper! Are you loving the new release? There is so much Summer fun here, and I think there’s something for everybody, whether you like to colour, or cut or layer. You can see the whole new release here. Today I have a card for you that has a beautiful flamingo from the very well named Stand Tall Stamp set.

When stamping and cutting any image with long thin parts, such as the legs here, or the stems of flowers, it’s always a good Idea to die cut first, then stamp onto the cut out. I stamped the flamingo with Copic friendly Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and then coloured it with some very basic shading, I used photos of flamingos from the Internet to see where to place my colors.

I really wanted some dimension to this flamingo, but there was no way I could put tiny pieces of foam tape behind those legs! The solution was to use the Stand Tall matching dies to cut two more flamingos and layer these up with glue.

I created the background by masking off a section of a piece of white card that had been cut with the Stitched Rectangles 2 largest die (this is the most used die in my collection by a long margin). I then ink blended a sandy shore and an ocean/sky blue background, working out from the corner. I spattered this with clean water, (which I dabbed off quickly) and spatters of the same two inks mixed with water.

The final touch was some Unicorn Pearls, and a sentiment, also from the Stand Tall Stamp set. This punny sentiment is so much fun.

Until next time, may your days be fun.

Blessings,

Donna
