Gingerbread Wonderland Shaker Card

Hi Friends! I wanted to have some fun this week and make something a little non traditional for a Christmas card! I love making a flat shaker card and I haven’t tried making one with the Pink and Main gems yet so I decided that this would be the card. My first step was picking out a feature image and so I grabbed the Gingerbread Kisses Stamp Set and stamped out the gingerbread house in the new alcohol-friendly Asphalt Ink. I colored it in with Copic Markers, adding in some rosy pinks and teals to create a more “Sugar plum fairy” feeling color scheme. Once I had the color done, I used the coordinating dies to cut out the image. Then I added some of the Ice Rink super fine glitter to the snow on the roof and some of the Ocean Wave super fine glitter to the candies at the bottom with a tiny bit of liquid glue. The last little touch I added to the house was the Touch of Gloss which went on the little window panes and then I set it aside to dry.

To create my card, I started out with a side folding white A2 card base and added a panel of pink stripe paper from the Year Round Dots and Stripes Paper Pack. I trimmed it down to be 4 in x 5.25 in to create just a little white boarder and glued it down flat. To create the shaker panel, I started out with a piece of the Lakeside card stock trimmed down to 3.25 in x 4.5 in and ran it through my die cutting machine with the Let’s Polka 6×6 embossing folder. I decided to use the debosed side for my panel and I grabbed one piece of old stamp packaging to create the shaker window. On the back of the panel, I added tape runner and folded over three sides of the packaging leaving the top open to fill with gems. For this project I used the white iridescent gems from the Cool Jellies Gems wheel and you could definitely take the time to flip them all over so they are all face up but I liked that the backwards ones kind of looked like snow.

Once I had enough gems in my shaker, I added tape to the top edge and folded over the plastic to seal it all up. I trimmed off any extra packaging from the corners and used the same tape to adhere the panel to the card base. I stamped my sentiment from the Gingerbread Kisses stamp set on the a scrap of my pink paper, using the reverse side with the dots and cut it out with the coordinating die. I used the EZ Squeeze liquid glue to adhere the house and sentiment to the plastic front of the shaker and added a small book on top for about 5 minutes to make sure everything stayed in place. I just love how happy and fun this shaker turned out and I hope you are inspired to play with some fresh colors this year!
