Framing your images – pairing old and new

Hello Pink and Main friends. It’s Donna here. I have a card to share with you today that combines and older stamp set with a newer die to give a lovely ‘framed picture’ card. Where I am now, in Southern Australia, the weather is just thinking about warming up. The flowers are starting to bloom too.

The main image for today’s card comes from an older set, and a real favourite of mine, called Sweet Bouquets, which has two different flower bouquets with some lovely cursive greetings. I’ve used just the images today, stamping, then masking and stamping again to make a flower garden along the bottom of the panel. Both of the images in the stamp set are used for this arrangement. I used a range of Copic markers to colour my image, and then used some light blue markers to blend around the flowers and out to nothing.

The sentiment for this panel comes from the Sweet Greetings stamp set, a recent release, with lovely hummingbird images. Today, I’ve only used the sentiment.

The frame of the card was cut using the Dotted Cover Dies outer frame only. I used this piece to decide the size of my inner panel pieces. I cut the pink piece about 1/8″ smaller than the stitched rectangle, and then my coloured panel another 1/8″ smaller again. This gave me the finest of pink borders. I used another piece of pink card, the size of my whole card as the bottom layer, and this really helped the scalloped border to stand out.

Finally, three enamel dots from the Butterfly Kisses set finished the card. I hope that you’ve enjoyed this pairing of older and newer products, and that you’re able to squeeze out some time to get crafty,

Until next time,

Blessings,

Donna
