Embossing on Black

Hello crafty friends. It’s Donna here with a card that is waaaay out of my normal wheelhouse. Have you seen the new embossing powders in this month’s release. There a really sweet pastel colours, with glitter in the powder. I thought I’d give them a try on black card, and they really pop!

I used the Bunny Tail stencil, which has lines of cute bunny and egg images. I taped this to a piece of black card at an angle, and then pressed clear ink onto the stencil. I then sprinkled the different colours of embossing powder onto the stencil, starting at the top and bottom. I shook off the excess powder, then added the next colour, shaking it off over the first colour. This didn’t cause any mixing of the colours in the excess powder – each came out completely clean. Once I’d covered each of the strips in embossing powder, I heat set the whole card at once.

The colours I used were – Wintergreen, Peaches and Cream, Pink Tutu, Lavender, Clear Day, and Sherbet. You can see in the pic below what great coverage the embossing powders give on black. The pastel colours and the glitter in them really stand out.

The sentiment was cut from the Layered Scallops Mini Slim dies, also from the new release. I cut this from some glitter cardstock from the Summer Glitter Cardstock pack, and layered this onto a strip of white paper, (thus completely covering the lovely peaches and cream bunnies!)

I think I’ll be back to white card and lots of space again for my next card, but it was so interesting to play with these powders on black that I thought I’d share them with you.

Until next time, may your days be full of joy. (and bunnies!)

Blessings,

Donna
