Doodled Wildflowers

Good morning and happy Friday! It’s Laurie back with you again to share a card made with the Wildflowers Stamp Set (this set will be available shortly!) The plan for this card was nothing like it turned out and I’m so pleased with the end result!

Because the outline of this image is very bold, I thought I’d give the no-line colouring technique a try. So, I stamped it out with an ink made specifically made for no-line colouring onto mixed media paper. I’ve been recently obsessed with Distress Oxide Inks so that’s what I chose for the colours.

Let’s just say the colouring did not turn out like I expected and left a lot to be desired. But I really loved the colours and didn’t want to throw it out. I proceeded to fussy cut the image out including some of the inner bits. I looked and studied these flowers to see how I could save them. So, I picked up a black fine liner pen and just started to scribble and outline the flowers and leaves!

I added dots and hashmarks as well as a few random lines. I’m a bit of a control freak so this was a little out of my comfort zone. I looked at what I had done and….loved it!! So, I stamped a few of the little greenery images and did the same thing to them.

Before adhering the floral arrangement, I inked up the bottom of a white card base with a green ink. I stamped the sentiment in black to match the doodles. I managed to curve the skinny sentiment into a nice arch. I used foam adhesive on the flowers and liquid glue on the greenery.

I decided to not embellish this card in any other way. I cannot believe the way the doodles changed the original stamped image, can you?! I think this technique would work on solid images beautifully and I can’t wait to try it!

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Laurie
