A Strange Graduation Indeed!

Hello Pink and Main friends. It’s Donna here, and I’ve been busy making graduation cards. It’s going to be a strange, disconnected graduation for our students, and, as we wait to see whether the State of Emergency will be lifted here in Tokyo, we still don’t know what form it will take.

Still, these students, more than others perhaps, are to be congratulated on the way they have conducted themselves in difficult times, so I’ve made a bunch of graduation cards. A real stack, in fact!

To make these cards, I first ink blended onto the front of coloured card bases. Blending 16 cards can be hard on the hands, so I had two strategies to help me through. The first was the Ergonomic Blending Brush, which has a lovely big brush compared to most brushes, and also a well shaped handle which sits nicely in the hand. Secondly, I started with coloured card, which meant that I only had to blend the medium and dark colours onto the bottom two thirds of the card, and I could leave the top untouched. While I’m mentioning the Blender Brush, I know many people were disappointed when the first and second shipments sold out so quickly, but the third shipment is due in just over a week, so now is a good time to preorder! If you order other Pink and Main Supplies, they’ll be included with your brush, so you can save on postage. Here is the link to preorder. UPDATE: The brushes are now in stock!!

Once the backgrounds were completed, I moved onto the next layer. This was cut from white card using the Beaded Curtain Cover Die. This die has so many fun possibilities. I feel like I’ve only just gotten started with this one! Finally, I added the sentiment. Both parts of this sentiment come from the Going Places stamp set, I stamped the larger word onto white card, and heat embossed the smaller sentiment onto black paper with white embossing powder. I used the sentiment strips dies to cut the black strip. These dies are fabulous. I love having exactly the right length for any sentiment. I glued the white card flat, and popped the black strip up with foam tape.

Please stay safe, and I look forward to sharing more crafty ideas with you very soon.

Blessings,

Donna
