I find it very relaxing to watercolor. I often make a bunch of backgrounds at once and save them for future cards. I used a round paintbrush and shimmer watercolors and made an easy background – I call it the paint chip technique! I couldn’t tell you why – except they remind me of little colored chips! I just grab some color on my brush and press the tip down onto my watercolor cardstock and drag it down a bit and lift up. Easy peasy!
I cut down the background with the largest die from the Mod Stitched Rectangles Die Set. I created a shaped card a few weeks ago with this die set and decided to do it again! I love the idea of having a card that’s shaped just a bit differently! I cut an extra panel of white cardstock with the same die from the Mod Stitched Rectangles Die Set and scored it about 1/2″ from the top. I added strong adhesive to the fold and adhered my painted background on top. It’s the easiest way I know to create a shaped card and you can do it with any die cut shape!
Now let’s work on that gorgeous Pink & Main Cherry Blossom! I stamped the largest floral image from the Cherry Blossom Stamp Set with black ink and heat embossed it with clear powder. This is a little trick I like to do whenever I am watercoloring. The heat embossing creates little wells which holds the water in place. I used shimmer watercolors that would coordinate with the background to color the Cherry Blossom image and then used the coordinating Cherry Blossom Die Set to cut out the image.
