Good morning, everyone!! Well, the past couple of cards I’ve shared had featured watercolour. So, I thought I’d keep that momentum going and share a third!
This one was still easy but a little more time consuming. I started out by die cutting the largest of the Floral Corner Dies out of white cardstock. I used spray adhesive to adhere it to a piece of Strathmore Mixed Media Paper. The spray adhesive did leave a little residue but didn’t interfere with the process.
Because I adhered to the mixed media paper, I could easily use my Kuretake Gansai Tambi paints. This took no time at all because the colour just stays within in the walls of the die cut! To build up the edges of the die, I die cut two more, this time using Stick-It Adhesive. I’m not used to this stuff and quite honestly, it made a mess. I had small, sticky pieces everywhere!! But like I said, I don’t have much experience with it.
I managed to trim the panel down so I could mat it onto a piece of teal cardstock. I adhered the card front to a top-fold A2, white cardbase. I realize I could have amped this card up more by adding Nuvo Crystal Glaze or Glossy Accents to coloured parts of the die. This is known as the Stained Glass Effect. But, I really liked the way this looked and wasn’t too sure how the paint would react to the liquid! In the past, I’ve noticed it will change or dull the colour significantly!
I used one of the sentiments from the new Spring Sentiments Stamp Set. I did a little “stamp surgery” so I could stamp on two separate lines.
I’m not super happy with the way I stamped the sentiment (the second portion, I pressed too hard). I sat and thought about ways to make it better but in the end, decided to let it be. I did not want to risk messing up the floral die cut!!
For embellishments, I used a couple of heart dies and some Night Sky Sparkle Paper. I love doing this for small accents that pack a punch!
And that’s my card for today!! Thanks so much for dropping by!
See you soon!
Laurie
Beautiful! So you glued three of the die cut, corner flowers, together and then painted inside it? Thank you.
Thank you, Debbie! I used one die cut at first, then after colouring, adhered 2 more. This covered up the ugliness of the colouring!
