Deconstructing Stamps | Deck The Palms

Hello Everybody!

It is Ksenija here and I am bringing a happy news to you. The September release is hitting the store today!

I will give you another look at the funny Christmas stamps set – Deck The Palms.

D

A fan of coloured pencil, I think of colouring images with pencils as soon as I see outline stamps without details within the outline. Deck The Palms is just perfect for colouring, specially with pencils, and I am sure many card makers will enjoy it.

These stamps come with co-ordinating steel dies, however today I made a one-layer card without die cutting.

I started with stamping the flamingo image down to a light green card panel trimmed to 4″ by 5 1/4″ in black ink. Then I made a mask for the bird by fussy cutting it out of low tack paper and covered with it the bird image.

I stamped down the right palm off the edge overlapping it with the flamingo impression, and then to the right I stamped down the left palm.

All images are coloured with pencils. To ground the palm trees I drew an interrupted horizon line.

Shadows from objects always help to build perspective and to make picture realistic. If you are not sure about a shadow shape of an object, here is a simple trick. Place the same stamp under the impression with a smooth side down to the card stock. This will give you an idea how the shadow can look.

To finish off my card I decorated the palm trees and the wreath with enamel drops for added dimension and foam mounted the panel to a white card base.

Deck the Palms is a playful unusual Christmas stamps set and I will make more cards with it for sure. If you are colouring enthusiast, definitely add this set to your stash.

Thanks for stopping by today and happy shopping!
