3 Key Elements To Improve Your Clean And Simple Cards | BEE Day

There are three key elements of Clean and Simple (CAS) Cards that will help you to improve your cards in surprising ways.

Hello Everybody! It is Ksenija here today.

I am a huge fan of Clean and Simple cards.

Many people admire this card making style, but do not dare to try or feel frustrated when see their finished work. A card seems empty or “naked”.

If you are feeling disappointed with your results, read this post to learn The Three Key Elements to improve your CAS cards.

There are three elements that help me building almost every CAS card. These elements frame or ground a focal image, add dimension and “bling” and keep a viewer’s attention.

To make my today’s card I have combined several Pink and Main supplies. The focal image is a kind bee with a birthday cupcake from the BEE Day stamps and matching dies set.

The image was die cut, stamped with an alcohol marker friendly ink and coloured with markers.

I have a set of hand made masks from acetate with various shapes openings. For this card I have used an oval mask to make a background.

I masked off a white card note with this mask and blended two shades of purple inks using the Clouds stencil.

The sentiment comes from a different stamps set – the Party Balloons. I like the delicate script of this stamp matching the soft colours of my card.

To finish off my card I popped the bee image with a foam tape, embellished the card with a few sequins and adhered a fluffy pom pom to its hat.

My today’s card incorporates all three elements, namely:

  • an interesting and uncluttered background
  • raised details
  • pretty and light embellishment.

The stencilled background frames the bee image. The foam mounted focal image is separated from the card base. The sequins add shine, while a pom pom makes the bee image tender.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Have a great day!

Great tips! I struggle with CAS cards. Your card is adorable and the background is so dreamy!
