Hello Pink and Main Friends! Donna here again! I have a soft floral card to share with you today. This card uses the beautiful Roses Stamp set.
I stamped two of the images from the Roses set onto watercolour paper, and heat embossed them in white. A little masking was involved where the two flowers meet, but as it was just a small area, I didn’t cut out a whole mask, instead just laying down a scrap of Post -It tape.
Next came the painting. I used watercolour paints from a mix of companies, choosing fairly transparent colours, so that I could glaze the paints – layering up different colours on top of each other. I first painted the outside of the flowers with lots of water, and laid down some light blue up against the image, tilting the paper so that the paint ran towards the edges of the card. I then painted the inside of the flowers with water, and laid a little light pink over the bottom of each petal, once again allowing it to spread and flow. Once this was dry, I went over different petals individually with different shades of pink – moving towards coral by adding yellow, and towards purple by adding a little blue. You can see how the layers build up in the photo below. Believe it or not, this isn’t hard to do, just a little time consuming.
The leaves were painted with green, with a little of the pink added to darken the colours. Once everything was dry, I spattered the whole panel with the same colours as I ‘d used on the image, as well as some white gouache. The Panel was cut using the Stitched Rectangles 1 die, and the sentiment from the Pretty Peony stamp set completed the card, I love pops of black on pastel cards!
I hope that you are staying safe and well wherever you are. Until next time,
Blessings
