You Are Not Alone

Hello Pink and Main friends. It’s Donna here, and I have a sweet butterfly card to share with you today.

Those of you who have seen many of my cards know that I’m a champion of the little stamps that make up a stamp set, and this card follows in this tradition.

This month’s release has a gorgeous stamp set called Always, with a floral heart which I have stamped out and have sitting on my desk, ready to colour. But for today’s card, the smaller butterflies than are included in this set are going to get their chance to shine.

I used a piece of watercolour paper that I turned into lovely bright shades of pink and orange with watercolour powders. Once this paper was very dry, I stamped butterflies over it with clear ink and heat embossed them in white. I used the matching dies to cut the butterflies out.

I used this same piece of paper to stamp and cut the sentiment. The stamp set that it comes from is called Forever in My Heart. I cut the banner using the Sentiment Strip Dies. However, I didn’t think about the sentiment right from the start, and ALMOST ran out of paper! You can see above just how close I came to failure! This picture also gives you a good look at the colours of the original paper.

The background was also made with watercolours. I mixed a light blue wash, and using a broad brush, I painted stripes across the page. Letting the brush get quite dry allows the paint to have that lovely sketchy look, as the paint only skims the top of the paper, not the indents. Next, I splashed a little black paint over the panel.

Once it was dry, I cut it out using the Stitched Rectangles 2 largest die. This panel was popped up with foam tape onto a pink card, along with the sentiment and most of the butterflies. The other butterflies were glued down flat.

I hope you have enjoyed this soft early spring card. Thank you for spending your time with me. Until next time, may your days be full of butterflies.

Blessings,
Donna
