Hi friends, I am so excited to be sharing this sneak peek with you today! The moment I saw the new Cracked Glass Chunky Glitter I knew I had to use it for shaker card. The problem was I didn’t want to have to worry about making a well for it to sit in, I didn’t want to use so much of it up at once and I didn’t want to worry about it getting stuck to the foam on the sides. I decided to make my own flat shaker pocket with left over packaging to add to the inside of my shaker window. I made this a second time with a different stamp set live last night so if you want to see this process in video form you can check that out here.
For this card I started out by trimming down the light blue tone on tone dots from the Year Round Dots and Stripes Paper Pack to be 5.5 in x 4.25 in. Then I foiled one of the new Funky Flakes Foilable panels with the Shattered Blue Cheerfoil using my Mini Minc Foiling Machine. I love the frosty effect that the shattered foils have for a snowflake themed background. Once the panel was foiled and cooled, I trimmed it down slightly to be 3.75 in x 5 in so that there would be a little more of the blue dots visible in the background.
Next I stamped one of the penguin cups and two of the snowflake cookies from the new Cup of Good Cheer Stamp Set and colored them in with Copic Sketch Markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the images and then it was time to create my shaker element. I used the medium stitched square from the Layered Scallop Squares Dies to cut a window into my foiled panel a little higher than the center. For the actual shaker pouch, I cut a square from the side of a stamp package that was just a little bigger than the window cut out so that one side was already connected and could open like a book. I used double sided tape to seal up two of the open sides and then added some of the Cracked Glass Chunky Glitter and then sealed up the last side. I used tape runner to add that flat pouch to the back of the window cut out and then added foam tape around the back of the panel so there would be less pressure of the shaker and the glitter could shift a little more easily inside.
I attached the whole panel on top of the dot panel and then added the little penguin and cookies on top. I also stamped out one of the sentiments from the stamp set and cut it with the coordinating die to add the center of the window shaker. I think this is such a fun way to add some extra sparkle and love to a holiday card and I can’t wait for you to see the whole new release on Friday!
so super cute!
I’m going to share it in the Coffee Loving Papercrafters FB group.
