Hi friends, this is Caitlin! I had so much fun watercoloring another card this week and this time, it’s a super bright and happy Easter Card. I knew I wanted to play with the new Easter Joy Stamp Set because Momma Lehey’s lettering is just so gorgeous and the flower bunches were begging to be watercolored. I really wanted to capture the warmth and hope that Easter gives me. No matter what your faith, I feel like that time of year is when you really see spring start to bloom.
I started out my card with a side folding A2 card base in a landscape orientation so that I would have room to make a little frame with the floral images. I used the Magic Anti Static Brush to prep a scrap of smooth watercolor paper and then I stamped the florals with the Asphalt Ink and VERY QUICKLY added a layer of the Detail Clear Embossing Powder. The Asphalt Ink does not stay wet as long as the embossing ink so you do need to work quickly to do this in one step. If you are concerned though and have a stamping platform, you can also stamp it in the black, let it dry and then stamp it on top with embossing ink and add the powder. Once the powder was melted, I spun my paper around and stamped the same images on the other end and repeated the process.
To start my watercoloring, I stamped out my inks onto a plastic pallet and got a little container of clean water ready. I used Dress Shop, Construction, The Park, Night Sky and Lakeside Inks for a really happy color scheme. I used a small brush to lay down clean water into each section and then add in some of each ink for a really easy watercolor wash. When I was done, I sprayed some extra water onto my paint pallet and smushed another watercolor panel down into it. I repeated that one more time and then let that dry on the side. After the images had dried for a few minutes, I used the coordinating dies to cut them all out. I prepped my card base by adding a 5.5 in x 4.25 in panel of cream with white dots from The World to Me Paper Pack and then added that smushed watercolor panel on top with the EZ Squeeze Liquid Glue. I Stamped the Happy Easter sentiment into the middle of the card with the Asphalt Ink twice for a really dark and crisp image. I added some of the flowers down flat and some I added a layer of Foam Tape to for a little pop of dimension. The last step for me was to add in two sets of 3 pearls to either side of the sentiment. I used the warm cream pearls from the Essential Pearls wheel. I hope this card makes you smile and brings a little sunshine to your day!
