Traditional Christmas Sneak Peek

Hello Pink and Main friends. Can you believe that it’s almost October? This is the time that I get going seriously on making my Christmas cards, so I’ve made a start here with a stamp set from the almost-here release.

I’ve made a set of two cards that I designed and made as one, then cut apart to make the pair.

I first stamped the poinsettia flowers and some of the leaves from the Mistletoe stamp set using the traditional Christmas colours and the traditional Poinsettia colours) of green and red. I used the matching dies to cut them out, and then I put them aside while I worked on the background.
To make the background, I used the petals stencil, which is one of my favourite Pink and Main stencils of all time. I took a whole sheet of Neenah Solar white paper, and scored and folded it so that it was 8 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches. I then used some masking tape to divide the page in half, and taped the stencil over one half before going over it with green ink. I then moved my setup to the other side and repeated the process. You could just pop the stencil in the middle and blend, but I wanted to stretch the pattern a little towards the outside of the paper.

Once I removed the stencil, I used the same green to lightly blend over the area that I’d stenciled to soften the striking green and white pattern.
Next, I made one arrangement of the flowers and leaves in the middle of the double card, sticking down everything except the largest flower.
Once everything was in place, I cut the two panels apart, cut the last flower in half, and then adhered it to the corresponding places in each card with foam tape. You could stick this down first, but I don’t like cutting through too many layers with my trimmer, as it’s getting on in years!
I then added the sentiment from the same Mistletoe stamp set to each card, in a different place, because the designs were slightly different. A few pearly baubles from my stash completed this pair of cards.

I wonder if you too are starting to think about Christmas cards. This is certainly a good set to have in your stash because the solid stamping makes cards much quicker than colouring when you have lots to make.

Until next time, stay safe,

Blessings,

Donna

Love how you created one large topper & then cut it apart later into 2 cards–nicely, nicely done.
