Thank You For Your Service

Hi, everyone! Samantha here today on the Pink and Main Blog sharing a cute sneak peek of the upcoming new release coming out this Friday, May 17th. I am sharing this sweet Memorial Day card in honor of all of our fallen heroes. This cute card features two new sets from the release, the American Eagle Stamp Set and May Mug Stamp Set.

For this design, I decided I wanted to create a one-layer card mashing up the two stamp sets. To start, I first stamped all of my images onto masking paper and fussy cut them out. I always stamp and cut out my masks first as I find the mask images help me lay out my design onto my card panel before I start stamping.

Next, using an A2-sized card panel of Copic Xpress-It cardstock, I stamped out my images starting with the foreground images first, applying my masks, and then stamping the background images. For the little eagle inside the mug, before stamping him out, I also laid down a strip of masking paper where his feet would be so they looked like they were contained within the mug. Once all of my images were stamped out, keeping my masks in place, I added more masking tape along the bottom of the panel to create a “grounding” space for the design before ink blending a blue background using Distress Oxide Blue Ribbon and Tumbled Glass. Next, I removed all of my masks and Copic-colored all of my images before heat embossing a few of the stars from each of the stamp sets in gold embossing powder.

To finish everything off, using a paper trimmer, I trimmed my card panel to 3.75″ by 5″ before gluing it to a red cardstock mat measuring 3 7/8″ by 5 1/8″ and then down onto an A2 sized piece of pattern paper from the Year Round Plaids 2 6×6 Paper Pack. I added a white folding A2-sized card base and my card was complete.

I am so happy with how this cute and patriotic card came out and I so hope you like it too!
