Stained glass quilt card – using patterned papers

Hello crafty Pink and Main friends. It’s Donna here, happy to be back in my crafty corner after it was (happily) invaded by overseas visitors. Spring is in full swing here – FINALLY some warmer weather!

Back when my children were smaller, I used to do a lot of patchwork and quilting. I haven’t done anything for a while now, but I always had a hankering to make a stained glass window quilt. It may not have happened with fabric, but as soon as I saw the Galaxy Foil papers, I knew I wanted to make this card.

The lovely Quilt Square Die was exactly what I needed. I took two of the Galaxy Foil papers, and a piece of rich purple cardstock, put some adhesive paper on the back of each. I then cut them using the die. I ran them through my die cutting machine a few times, because the die is quite intricate, and the adhesive paper adds a bit of bulk. I then started playing jigsaw puzzles!! I adhered the outlines to sheets of white cardstock, and carefully inlaid the puzzle pieces, keeping the ‘picture’ intact.

This gave me three different panels. I have made one into a card immediately, and kept the other two while I decide which sentiment I’d like to add.

This card uses sentiments from the ‘Celebrate’ stamp set and die combination. To match the silver accents of the stars on the paper I chose silver paper, and silver embossing powder.

This card was perfect for a puzzle lover like me!

If you have this, or other cover plate dies, I think this paper is a perfect match. I hope you are inspired to use these papers in new ways.

Until next time, I wish you lots of celebration.

Blessings,

Donna
