Small but not Forgotten

Hello Pink and Main friends. It’s Donna here. Here in Tokyo, our state of emergency has been lifted, and there is a little more movement about, but mostly we’re just staying home. I have a card for you today that I made as a birthday card, but when my hubby saw it, he said “Great wedding card!” And do you know what? I think he’s right!

This card highlights the small images from several stamp sets and their matching dies. They are Flurries ( the snowflake flowers), Perfect Couple ( the lovely tall heart), Less Tricks (the small stars and heart) and Hello Beautiful (the butterflies) The main hero of the card is the wreath itself. This is called Wreath Base Dies 2, and it’s just right for an understated bottom layer.

I coloured my wreath by swiping my ink pad over the die cut wreath. When I lay the smaller images on top, I felt that the brown wreath was too ‘heavy’ for the delicate images. So I cut another wreath in white. The white wreath was too ‘light’ and disappeared under all the confetti of images. In the end, I got what I wanted by layering the white wreath over the brown. This had the added advantage of giving me some extra dimension.

Next, I diecut and stamped the small images. To do each one separately would be very tedious, so this is how I went about it to save time and angst. I first cut each of the shapes from a scrap of card. I then laid this card into my MISTI and aligned the stamps into each hole. This took a bit of fiddling, as the stamps were so small. You can see in the picture that some of the stamps took a few tries to get centred. Once I was happy with the alignment, I replaced the small inserts and stamped all the images at once. I cut about 6 sets of images and stamped them in the holes one set after another.

I knew from the start that I wanted the mushroom brown and blue colour scheme, and I had the pink out on the desk in case. It turns out that I preferred the pink which brightened the card quite a bit. The wreath is laid onto white cardstock which I cut with the stitched rectangles 2 largest die.

The small images are mostly glued directly to the page or the wreath, but a few are popped up with foam tape. Finally, the sentiment comes from the Special Day stamp set. I was able to use the Sentiment Strip Dies to get a strip that was exactly the right length to stretch out across the wreath. What did I do before I had these sentiment strip stamps and dies?? This too is popped up on foam tape. Finally the panel was mounted onto a white card base.

I hope that you are staying safe, and that you are finding productive ways to fill your days. Have a wonderful week.

Blessings

Donna
