Simple and Geometric

Hello Pink and Main friends. It’s Donna here, and I’ve been crafting up a storm to match the weather outside – It’s the rainy season here in Tokyo!!!

I’ve just had a lovely lot of goodies arrive at my door, so of course I got making at the first available opportunity. Luckily the parcel arrived at the beginning of a day that I had set aside for cardmaking, so I could get stuck straight in!

The first thing that grabbed me was the wonderful sets of geometric dies. They are brand new in the Pink and Main store, and are available in Circles, pictured below, as well as A2 Rectangles, Squares, and lovely big A7 Rectangles.

Let’s just take a moment to reflect on the beauty that is these pink concentric circles!!!!

I have a real thing for both geometric cards and also analogous colours, so when I saw the fabulous Circle Die set, I got to ink blending. I used a range of inks in ranging from lime green through to grey-blue, and blended little patches on a piece of cardstock using the Ergonomic Blending Brush. I then cut out my circles, placing the dies so that they covered a section of card that flowed from the lighter to the the deeper shade of each colour.

In order to have all my circle pairs the same, I taped the two circle dies together, slightly offset and ran them through my die cutting machine as a pair. I also ran the next size up circle through the die cutting machine to make six white circles.

Once I had all my circles cut, I laid them out in a pattern that I liked. In fact, I originally planned this card as a vertical card, but no matter how I placed them, the circles looked like pairs of googly eyes!

I used the Layered Rectangle A2 dies to cut my background papers, one in white, and one in black. The white circles and the smaller inner circles are popped up with foam tape, but you could just as easily lay these flat.

The sentiment comes from the Just Because stamp set, and I’ve cut it out with the Pink and Main Sentiment Strip Dies, which I use on almost every card I make.

This is the type of card that could easily be made in multiples, as the ink blending and die cutting could be done production line style.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this card, and that you’re inspired to get crafty. If you’re interested in the new Pink and Main release, which has some adorable stamps as well as these great dies, you can check it out here.

Until next time, have a wonderful day.

Blessings,

Donna
