Hello, Pink & Main friends and fans!
I’m back with TWO cards– sharing MORE coloring images for my Savannah Learns to Color series and lessons that I’ve learned while trying a new-to-me technique!!
New-to-me technique: FOILING
I have had a P&M Mini Minc Foiling machine for several months… but I haven’t mastered foiling just yet! LOL! So technically it is a “new-to-me” technique. The last time I was in the P&M store (it’s only 30 mins from my home!!) I was talking with Leslie and Michelle about foiling. Here are some of the tips I received:
- Use the P&M Shattered Clear Cheerfoil on colored toner sheets or ombre toner sheets for a fun effect and look *Check out how it looks on THIS card. It was the PERFECT background for that spa card!!!
- Use the P&M Scrub It Clean cloths to wipe the folder and foil BEFORE sending them through the machine *I bought these cloths– so pretty and soft! But… I forgot to use them when foiling today’s cards! LOL!
- Foiling one of the P&M Get Well Foilable panels will actually make TWO cards— the original foiled panel and then the negative foil (scrap piece) on an extra toner sheet will create another background piece!!! We call this a TWOFER 🙂
Mistakes I’ve made:
My (first) mistake for today’s cards was that I didn’t wipe the folder or foil before running it through the machine 🤦🏼♀️ And the worst part is that you would think that I would have learned from the first card to make sure I wiped on the second foil panel 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ That’s ok though!!! I think it creates an added background effect!!!

This little Kleenex box steals the show with its tissue paper kleenexes! LOL My coloring isn’t too bad on this card… mistake #2 is that I don’t really know how to highlight just yet. I know there is a “light” source, but I tend to add dark color wherever I want and then go from there. Mistake #3 is that I used the wrong dark blue for the highlight on this box! LOL! It turned out ok though:)
If you look closely you will see that the background has multiple black toner “spots” showing through the rainbow foil. No doubt that is because I didn’t wipe prior to sending it through the machine… and quite possibly because I accidentally had the machine too hot! Honestly I like how this looks- it’s fun and adds a bit of interest.
Savannah Learns to Color #9, images #13
My TWOFER card came from the scraps of my first foiled background. I ran the negative foil image through the machine… and I FORGOT to wipe again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This time the mistakes show a bit more– you can see there are missing letters or sections of letters or scratches throughout. But again, I think this looks awesome on my bandaid card because I feel like the bandaids are holding it together (kind of like the true purpose of a bandaid)🙃
My coloring for these bandaids was a bit more rudimentary— I used only two colors (one light and dark). I think this added to the design because I really wanted the foiled background to pop.
You might see another mistake on this card; it’s kind of hard to see because I covered it up with the sentiment! Mistake #4 The highlight (silver) for the sentiment was actually another foiled panel that I messed up by not wiping! That’s the third time I forgot to wipe during this craft session 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
OVERALL: I’m having fun learning to color and how to foil! I am turning my mistakes into great cards! I love how these look! I don’t think these mistakes will stop me from foiling again… actually, I have several cards that I’ve made since using my foiling machine!!! Check out my IG page for MORE ideas!!! **NOTE: You might be wondering, “Does Savannah ever make a card WITHOUT a mistake?” Good question, and the answer is NO! You will probably hear me talking about mistakes the entire time I’m on the Design Team! LOL! The key is to never stop and to learn from the mistakes!!!
I hope my TWOFER foiled cards inspire you!! I also hope you are enjoying my coloring journey— I’ve got MORE to share, so be sure to come back soon! Please remember to share what you create using these techniques, if you are learning to color with me, or if you use this P&M stamp/die set so I can leave you some love ❤️
THANKS so much for stopping by! Happy crafting!!!
Hugs ❤️ Savannah
