Savannah Learns to Color #44: ‘Tis the Season

Hello, Pink & Main friends and fans!

It’s Savannah O’Gwynn, and I’m back to share a colored creation using the newest P&M products and release!!! I used several different techniques and supplies to create this card, but it was easy and fun to make!!!

SLTC#44, Colored Image #47 + Lessons Learned + Mistakes

SLTC#44 image #47: This card was fun to put together because I mixed and matched several different P&M goodies (see list below); plus, there’s dimension, coloring, and GLITTER:)

Techniques used: I want to start sharing the techniques I used for each card… that’s if I remember to do that each time! LOL! Sharing the techniques I used will help me figure out which ones I use the most, where I can grow and what techniques I need to try, and it helps you learn how I put some of these images/creations/cards together❤️

Here’s a list of the techniques used on this card:

  • coloring
  • embossing
  • fussy cutting
  • mixing and matching
  • layering
  • stamping/die cutting
  • “create my own”– in this case, I created my own diagonal design for the present

LL (Lessons Learned) + Mistakes: I’ve almost been coloring for a year, and yet my journey has just begun! LOL! I tried a new technique for this card– coloring with only two hues of one color. I felt like this is probably something I should have STARTED my coloring journey with because coloring with only two colors made shading “easier”. I’m not sure I totally understand shading just yet, but with only one lighter and one darker color it was easy to just add one line of shading. And to be honest, I think it worked on this card! It’s not perfect… but it definitely isn’t the worst coloring I’ve done😂

You might notice that I fussy cut the snowman at the top of the present to make it look like he was really pulling himself up to peek over the bow. It’s the little things that make cards pop!!

#mistakes: I have a few mistakes like….

  • I wish I would have added more pink to the present stripes.
  • I didn’t cut the stripes correctly so there are a few white spots on the edges- LOL!
  • I didn’t make the present tall enough for a gift card; still works as a present just not a gift card holder:)
  • I didn’t know how to shade the bow… that’s probably my biggest mistake 🤦🏼‍♀️

I guess I need to learn more about shading! If you’ve got any tips— please share!!!

Overall, I love how this card turned out, and I’m still enjoying my coloring journey!

I hope this holiday card inspires you to pull out your P&M goodies and create a something today! Or maybe you CASE this card and make it better!!! I’d love to see your version of this card!!

I’ll be back with MORE soon💌

Please remember to share what you create using these techniques, if you are learning to color with me, or if you use these P&M stamp/die sets so I can leave you some love ❤️

THANKS so much for stopping by! Happy crafting!!!

Hugs ❤️ Savannah
