Hello friends!! Laurie here to share a super fun gatefold design card. I rarely make “fancy” folded cards but when I do, it’s usually a gatefold! Mostly because it’s quick and easy but also because it’s a classic design.
I started with a 5.5 X 8.5 inch piece of cardstock. Instead of scoring and folding at 4.25 (half), I scored 2 1/8th from either end of the long side. This will bring the two flaps in to meet perfectly at the middle!
I took the new Rainbow Die Set and cut all the elements out of plain white cardstock. I used rainbow colours (of course) in Distress Inks. The rainbow die cuts each arch separately so after the colouring was done, I adhered each piece onto a scrap piece of cardstock then trimmed around the rainbow. This makes the rainbow one solid piece.
Before adhering the rainbow to the card, I trimmed down a piece of patterned paper from the Something Whimsy Paper Pad to fit each flap. I only added glue to the left portion of the rainbow so the card wouldn’t be glued shut! This is pretty important hahaha!
I finished off the inside with a sentiment from the Bright Side Stamp Set along with a few clouds. I rarely finish the inside of my card but because there was so sentiment on the outside, I thought this would be fun!
I ended up adding a few raindrops coming from the clouds on the front, covering them with shimmer pen and Nuvo Crystal Glaze. I could not capture any sparkle in the photos as it was a dark and gloomy day but it does add some wonderful shine!
And that’s it for me today!! I hope you enjoyed! Also, we have sneak peeks starting later this week so make sure to visit again (and again) 🙂
Have a wonderful day!
