Partial Die Cutting

Hello Pink and Main friends. It’s Donna here and I have both a blog post and a video for you today. I’m just so excited about the new release that I couldn’t help myself. I always say that flowers are my favourite things to colour, but these butterflies are so fabulous that my flowers have a serious rival. If you want to see the whole new release, you can do that here. Today’s card is a trifold card, just for something different.

I have a video of the making of this card, if you’d like to watch that. Otherwise, the instructions are all written below for you, under the link to the video.

To start with, I lined up the centers of the butterflies from the beautiful Butterfly Sketches stamp set 4cm from the right hand side of a panel, and stamped them with Copic friendly ink. I then used the matching Butterfly kisses dies to cut out just the right hand side of each butterfly. I then used a sharp knife and metal ruler to cut the line between the butterflies.

I coloured the butterflies using Copic Markers, and scored 3/8 inch from the left hand side of the panel. The ink came through to the back of the panel so I cut three more butterflies from patterned paper and adhered them to the back. This paper, which I also used for the right hand main panel, comes from the Butterfly Kisses paper pad. There were so many papers that I could have chosen from this pad, but in the end I went with the soft teal bokeh paper.

The trifold card was made by putting the full card (with a small sliver taken off one side so that the triple fold wouldn’t be too bulky) backwards, and attaching the butterfly panel to the back of the left hand side, so that the small folded tab was hidden. The sentiment comes from the same stamp set.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this card, and that you are having a wonderful weekend. I’ll be back soon with more butterfly goodness!

Donna
