Mixed media card – short tutorial

Hi,

today I have for you short tutorial for easy mixed media card. With new Pink and Main stamps you can even play with medias and create great background for any project.

First we will prepare background. Use any of your favourite stencil and good quality paper. Apply texture paste.

IMG_7350Before paste dries apply embossing powder and heat emboss it. Powder will stick on wet paste, you do not need to do anything more. It will make great structure.

Now it is time for some funny stamping. Always use for mixed media waterproof ink – like Archival or Staz on. For my background I used great stamps – Fun Washi. I stamped images randomly over card base. Stamping does not have to be precious, it is mixed media background so it is very playful.

Next stamps which I used is – True love – sentiment love will be my main image on card. Use any of your favourite stamp – Pink and Main has got also great stamp with sentiment Sweet or Hugs.

And last part of background will be spray and gesso, we need to light up and colour background. Use gesso or white acrylic paint. If you do not have spray you can use watercolours and just brush, no problem, in media world you can use anything.

Between each steps use heat gun for speed up drying.

Mixed media is all about playing, so next steps will be playing with wooden laser cuts, with flowers etc. Just find in you stash what you like.

I found wooden laser cut – wreath, I painted it with gesso and pink acrylic paint. I glued it on my card base. Than I glued different flowers. And final step was to make some splatters with Gesso.

So as you see mixed media card can be really very easy. Butterflies are from my stash too – they are made with air drying polymer clay and Marta Stewart mould. For gluing embellishments always use high quality glue or better is 3D matte gel (any brand), gel dries clear and it is flexible. Do not use heat gun glue – glue is very hard for card.
