Hello Pink and Main friends. It’s Donna here.I’ve been keeping with the Japanese theme this month, and I have a mini slimline card to share with you today.
Slimline cards, and especially mini slimline seem to come in a variety of different sizes. This card is 3 3/4″ by 7 3/4″.
The stamp set that I used is Pink and Main’s Cherry Blossom. The bold lines work very well with the gold heat embossing. The embossed lines make great little ‘walls’ for helping my watercolors to behave too!
I used watercolour markers from a range of companies to colour this, using two different pinks for the blossoms, and one green for the leaves. The background sky is a mix of three different blues. Once the watercolour was dry I spattered the whole card panel with deeper versions of the colours I’d used in the card, as well as with white gouache.
Once this was dry, I used the second largest of the Stitched Slimline dies to cut the card, cutting one end, and then sliding the die up and ‘clicking’ it in place in the side stitches before cutting the other end – hence the ‘mini’.
The sentiment is heat embossed in gold onto a piece of vellum and wrapped around the panel. I matted the watercolour paper onto some grey cardstock, and then stuck it all to a white card base.
I hope that you have enjoyed this card, and are inspired to break out the watercolours, or perhaps to experiment with different card sizes.
Until next time,
May everything bloom in your life,
Blessings
