Hello Pink and Main friends. It’s Donna here, and I’m coming to you from a hotel room in Sydney Australia today. We’re well into our two week quarantine period before we can head out into the fresh air again. In the meantime, I have a hummingbird card to share with you. We don’t have hummingbirds in Australia, so they have always held a great fascination for me.
I have stamped the elements for this card in black Copic friendly ink, and coloured using Copic markers. The hummingbird, flower and sentiment all come from the Sweet Greetings stamp set from the newest release. I googled hummingbirds to help me choose colours and I was amazed at how many different amazing colours there are. I only have a handful of Copic markers with me for the next five months in Australia, so I found a bird that matched what I had in my little stash. I then used the same purple from the bird’s face to colour the flowers.
To make the background, I placed some masking tape around my piece of cardstock and lightly ink blended a sky down from the top, fading out toward the middle of the card. The panel was precut when I was in Japan using Pink and Main’s Stitched Rectangles 1 dies. ( I brought a handful of precut panels for when I can’t find a friend with a cutting machine!). For the sentiment, I opened a new black ink, and stamped it, only to find that the inkpad surface was covered in micro hairs. It’s made the sentiment a little fuzzy, which is not the fault of the stamp. so one of my first jobs when I get out is to get myself another black ink!
The finishing touch was some Unicorn pearls in the blue green colour. You get a range of 6 colours in the set, and that makes it a really good choice for me to travel with.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this card, and that you are having a wonderful day. Until next time,
Blessings,
Donna
