Hello Pink and Main Friends. It’s Donna here, and I have a bright happy card for you today that uses the simplest of masking techniques to alter the image.
I love this bright check paper in the It’s a Party paper pad, and I decided to use this to help determine my colour scheme. I held the paper up against my Copic colour chart so that I could choose matching colours. Because the colours in the paper are so bold, I used the matching Copic as my darker colour, and chose another lighter shade of each colour to blend with.

Next, I stamped my image from the Bee Day Stamp set, starting at the top of the page. I used the little bee on the presents that you can see on the stamp set below. Once I had stamped the whole image at the top of the white card, I used a piece of sticky note paper to cover across the bottom of the image, and moved the stamp down a little and restamped just the gifts, being careful that my mask was big enough for the little feet not to show on the next image.

Once everything was stamped, I used a Copic safe black pen to fill in just a little bit of the top of the present that was missing – a job that even I, with my lack of drawing skills, found easy enough, although I did make one small mistake, which you can see if you look hard enough! I used very basic shading to colour the image, and then stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set.

This card is very simple in its construction, but the matching colours really make it pop. I’m glad I didn’t colour the image first and then try to match a paper to my colours, which I can tend to do if I’m not thinking ahead.

I hope this card has inspired you to look to your pattern papers for colour inspiration. Until next time, may your life be colourful!
Blessings,
Adorable!
Have a great day!
