Isn’t it fun how a bit of heat embossing can really step up a project? I used a bunch of Pink & Main embossing powders to make this happy little fishing card!
It’s no secret that I love to make my own backgrounds. It’s one of my favorite parts of cardmaking! I looked at the soon to be released Gone Fishing Stamp Set and immediately thought that all the lures would make the perfect background. But why stamp in plain ink when you can add color AND dimension with embossing powders?!
Before all of my stamping I was sure to cover my cardstock with powder with the Pink & Main Magic Anti-Static Brush. This is the BEST powder brush I’ve ever used! Not a speck of stray embossing powder! I used my Pink & Main Watermark & Embossing Ink Pad and stamped each of the lures onto a piece of white cardstock and embossed with Aquatini Embossing Powder. I repeated the process with Orange Pop, Sour Apple, and Sour Lemon Embossing Powders. I finished off the background by spattering on some gold and olive shimmer watercolor.
I wanted to add a simple focal point to the card, so I stamped the fishing pole and sentiment from the Gone Fishing Stamp Set and embossed it with Blueberry Fizz Embossing Powder and used the coordinating dies to cut out the fishing pole. I used a tried and true trick to make sure that the images would stand out from the background – I used a Zig Zag Circle Die and cut a piece of vellum. I popped up the images and the circle with foam for dimension.
I hope you enjoyed this card! I love the way the heat embossing quickly and easily adds color and dimension! Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you soon!
Awesome card!
Have a great day!
