Hi friends, this is Caitlin back with you this week with another fun summer card! I brought back an old favorite, the Flocks of Love Stamp Set, to make a this sweet and (for me) simple card. I started out by stamping the two flamingos and coloring them with Copic markers and then built the rest of the card around them. This isn’t the way I usually create but sometimes it feels like images just call out to me and I have to go with it.
Once I used the coordinating dies to cut out the two flamingo images I needed to figure out a first layer for the card base. I grabbed an A2 side folding card base and used the EZ Squeeze Glue to adhere down a piece of the light pink dot paper pattern from the Year Round Dots and Stripes Paper Pack. I wanted to add another layer of tone on tone to this project so I used the Cloudy Day Embossing Folder with Ice Rink Card Stock trimmed down to 4.5 in x 3.25 in.
I thought that the white panel looked strange just floating on top of the pink paper so I decided to ground it with a black mat that was just barely bigger than the white panel. I really love how these papers all coordinate with the flamingos themselves and it really helps create a big impact without a lot of work. I wanted to create a banner for the sentiment because of the texture on the background. The Extra Large Sentiment Strips Dies were the perfect solution so I cut it from black card stock and heat embossed the sentiment with Frosting Embossing Powder.
I added the banner flat and then popped up the flamingos with Foam Tape for some fun dimension. I love how sweet this card is and it was pretty quick to come together. I hope you are having a great summer so far and are having fun with summer crafting!
