Cardinals in Winter

Hi everyone! Samantha here today on the Pink and Main Blog excited to share two cute cards featuring the adorable, Winter Cardinals Set 2 and the coordinating Winter Cardinals Set 2 Dies

To start both cards, I first stamped my selected images from the Winter Cardinals Set 2 stamp set onto Copic X-Press It paper before coloring each image with Copic markers and then using the coordinating dies. Setting my images aside, I next worked on the background elements for each project.

Selecting a dark green cardstock, I cut several branches from the new Winter Fern Dies. I next splattered white acrylic paint on all of my branches to resemble snow before moving onto my card panels.

I selected a green polka paper from the Fun Basics Paper Pack and I cut it to 3 7/8th” x 5 1/8th” and glued it to a dark green cardstock mat measuring 4″ x 5 1/4″. I then selected a circle from the Layered Circle Dies and die cut out the center of both layers as show in the photo above. Lastly, before assembly, I used the Stitched Circle Frame Dies to cut a ring matching the size of my die cut circle, also out of green cardstock.

For assembly. I attached my matted polka dot panel to a white folding A2 card-base with foam tape before nesting two of my branches into the center circle and then adhering my cardinal with lantern image, also using foam tape. To finish everything off, I stamped a sentiment and die cut it out with my Large Sentiment Strip Dies and added a little heart embellishment.

For my second project, I pulled out the new Oblong Stitched Octagon Dies and I created a white frame by nesting one smaller die inside the larger and running it through my die machine. Next, I cut another octagon using the larger of the two dies and ran the die-cut white panel through the Quilted 6×6 Embossing Folder creating a textured background for my scene.

To assemble, I centered my embossed paper onto a folding A2 card-base in dark green cardstock and then applied my colored cardinals image before laying down my Octagon Frame over my scene. To finish everything off, I added my extra Fern branches around the edges of the frame, and topped things off with a stamped and die cut sentiment and a few Gold Sticky Gems.

Both cards are complete and ready to be mailed off during the holidays.

Thanks for following along!
