Altering Die Cuts

Good morning, friends!! Laurie here to share a super fun, shaped card that uses the new Floral Mail Die and Postage Dies! To mix things up a bit, I decided to alter the Floral Mail Die to get a completely different look!

I do love this new die, however, I love to try and get a bit more mileage by figuring out different ways to use them. I started by die cutting the Floral Mail Die out of white cardstock. I simply trimmed the floral edges of each side. This left me with a cute envelope and two floral arrangements.

The envelope cuts out 4 separate pieces: the heart, the envelope flap, the lower portion of the envelope and the frame. I put strips of tape behind the frame so I could layer the pieces back in. I added some simple shading to the envelope and used a few colours on the flowers and the heart.

Before adhering the die cuts onto the largest of the Postage Dies, I masked off the outer edges with masking tape and used the Puffy Heart Stencil with a light grey ink. It was at this point that I decided to make this a shaped card. I die cut another of the Postage Dies, scored 3/4 inch from the top, added some Scor-Tape to the flap and adhered the two panels together.

I used craft foam to mount the envelope and liquid glue for the flowers, keeping them inside the stitched line. At this point, I still hadn’t stamped a sentiment because that’s how I roll. I rarely plan for a sentiment and then find myself in a sticky situation. Thankfully, I used craft foam. This provided a firm background for stamping. Although, I would not recommend this technique because things could go horribly wrong :). Luckily the stamping turned and I could breath again. The “Hey There” comes from the Sweet Bouquets Stamp Set.

To finish the card off, I added some sparkle pen to the heart on the envelope and the darker coloured flowers. I think this turned out super fun and unique!

Thank you for dropping in this morning! See you soon!

Laurie
